President Trump just showed his true colors and boy are they impressive. Look, Trump is under siege and we shall see how it all shakes out but a campaign finance charge will not bring him down.

Our campaign finance system is a literal cesspool and anything goes so Trump’s enemies will have to do a lot better than that.

Wile everyone is slinging arrows at Trump what does he do? He fires off a hilarious joke that shows he is cool, calm, collected and not at all worried.

As Hemmingway wrote, courage is grace under pressure.

“If anyone is looking for a good lawyer, I would strongly suggest that you don’t retain the services of Michael Cohen!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

It should be noted that Cohen is not cooperating with Mueller. The media is trying to say the agreement doesn’t have to be public and that he is, in fact, going to provide evidence to bring down Trump.

But they said the same thing about Papadopoulos and it turned out that he is not cooperating.

Then Trump dropped the hammer on the whole charade.

From NBC:

Cohen said he had paid two women, apparently porn actress Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal, “at the direction” of an unnamed candidate in 2016 — meaning Trump — and that a $150,000 payment in August 2016 was for the “principal purpose of influencing” the 2016 presidential election. Both Daniels and McDougal have said they had past relationships with Trump. Asked if he knew that what he did was illegal, he told the court yes.

In another tweet, later in the morning, he suggested Cohen’s admitted campaign finance violations “are not a crime.”

“Michael Cohen plead guilty to two counts of campaign finance violations that are not a crime,” he tweeted. Trump added that “President Obama had a big campaign finance violation and it was easily settled!” — an apparent reference to a $375,000 fine levied by the Federal Election Commission in 2013 against Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign for failing to report more than 1,000 contributions.
